Archaeologists in Lima, Peru unearthed an incredible relic that has taken them back in time, 3,000 years ago. The discovery was made by archaeologists and students from San Marcos University who noticed the exposed hair and skull of the mummy. However, before they could examine the ancient artifact, over 15,000 pounds of trash had to be removed from the site.

This find is no ordinary one. It is an astonishing discovery that has shed light on the Manchay culture, a group of people who lived around modern-day Lima from 1500 BCE to 1000 BCE. The mummy is believed to have been a sacrifice from this culture. The Manchay people were known for their U-shaped temples pointed towards the rising sun. In fact, the positioning of the mummy, as well as where it was found in the temple, indicated that it was left as an offering in the final phase of the building's construction.
